Dear *,

Even if I am not a fan of Apple Products, I have to admit what Steve Jobs did and does in the IT industry was and is awesome; not only technically but also in term of analyse, strategy, marketing, so on and so far.

You have all my respect for that, Steve.

Honestly, I was a bit sad to see he had to leave his position at Apple again. After all, he is one of the pioneers in the IT industry.

Nostalgic of the good old days ? Well, yes.

However, I was really sad when I saw the pictures published by 7sur7.be website – see link below – showing him very sick.

I wish you a speedy recovery.

Can’t wait to compete with your ideas. Good luck Steve and waiting for seeing you going better.

Dear *,

On August 25th we are organizing a special technical afternoon session for our customers and partners. Red Hat can help customers plan their IT infrastructure – from Open Source Software to Virtualization, Cloud Computing and much more. This technical session will inform you about Red Hat Enterprise MRG, CloudForms and JBoss as a Fabric (Openshift). It will also provide you with the possibility to discuss technical issues with Red Hat experts and your peers.

MRG Used by many financial institutes, Red Hat Enterprise MRG is a next-generation IT infrastructure incorporating Messaging, Realtime, and Grid functionality. It offers increased performance, reliability, interoperability, and faster computing for enterprise customers.

CloudForms CloudForms redefines the IaaS cloud market by incorporating both comprehensive application lifecycle management and the ability to create integrated clouds from the broadest range of computing resources with unique portability across physical, virtual, and cloud computing resources.

JBoss as a Fabric (Openshift) At Red Hat, we have been working hard towards a broad and open cloud stack that covers everything from IaaS through PaaS to SaaS. Among these, PaaS will likely be of most interest to the JBoss developer. But what exactly is this “platform”? What am I, as a developer, going to code against? And what am I, with my operator hat on, going to monitor and manage?

We will close this meeting with networking drinks and snacks.

Registration Join us for this exclusive technical session. Spaces are limited so register today to ensure your place. Please send an e-mail with your contact details to redhat@artdcom.com.

We look forward to meeting you on August 25th!

[FreedomBox]

August 12, 2011

Dear *,

Well as I missed the interesting project presentation at FOSDEM this year, I wanted to share it with those who missed as well 😉

Personally, I am convinced a lot of companies would be interested by such project.

Does anyone of you know if that project have chance to integrate the Fedora Distribution ?

Extract from the Freedombox.org website :

What is FreedomBox?

  • Email and telecommunications that protects privacy and resists eavesdropping
  • A publishing platform that resists oppression and censorship.
  • An organizing tool for democratic activists in hostile regimes.
  • An emergency communication network in times of crisis.

FreedomBox will put in people’s own hands and under their own control encrypted voice and text communication, anonymous publishing, social networking, media sharing, and (micro)blogging.

Much of the software already exists: onion routing, encryption, virtual private networks, etc. There are tiny, low-watt computers known as “plug servers” to run this software. The hard parts is integrating that technology, distributing it, and making it easy to use without expertise. The harder part is to decentralize it so users have no need to rely on and trust centralized infrastructure.

That’s what FreedomBox is: we integrate privacy protection on a cheap plug server so everybody can have privacy. Data stays in your home and can’t be mined by governments, billionaires, thugs or even gossipy neighbors.

With FreedomBoxes in their homes, anybody, regardless of technical skill, can easily enjoy secure, private, even anonymous communication!
